WTO 6 th MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE IN HONG KONG

In the coldest days of this year in Hong Kong, we had the warmest atmosphere inside the venues. Troops of highest calibre technicians from Germany, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and China marched into the Hong Kong Conventional and Exhibition Centre with their hottest hearts. They proclaimed that they would do their best to make the conferences running successfully and smoothly and they vowed they would make it the most successful event of this year. Indeed their hottest hearts had never been cooled down since the set-up of equipment started and the remarkable result had fully showed their greatest ability in conferencing technology. Thanks to all the overseas and local technicians who had taken part in this memorable event, your truthful contribution had gained our applause

The WTO Ministerial Conference that had drawn the global attention and controversy was held in Hong Kong from 13 th to 18 th December. This was the historical event in Hong Kong. Quadra Technic ICS Limited was awarded with the contract from the Hong Kong SAR Government to be the sole official provider of conference microphone and simultaneous interpretation equipment and technical operation service.

“From the date we were awarded the contract, we were in tension. We know this would be the toughest job we have and should be our new challenge. The HKSAR Government was anxious on the result of the conferences and wanted the best. Fortunately, we had good support from our mother company, BRÄHLER ICS of Germany. We used 26 sets of DIGIMIC / CDS200 Digital Conference Microphone System and INFRACOM Simultaneous Interpretation System. The biggest system we had in venue could control up to 500 microphones at the same time. We know we could get through it with the highest technology of BRÄHLER” commented Mr. Simon Lam, the Commercial Director of Quadra Technic and Chief Project Manager after the six days conference.

It was not just another successful project for Quadra Technic, it sure had better meanings because a lot of historical records of Hong Kong conference industry were brought in by these WTO meetings

• 50 technicians were employed and some were highly experienced technicians from overseas BRÄHLER
• total 2700 nos. of digital microphones were used throughout the 26 rooms
• total 13000 nos. of infrared receivers
• total 61 booths and interpreter consoles, for 8 languages
